1. Introduction

Stream Solar (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a solar energy company operated by Farutech Solutions Limited, providing solar system design, supply, installation, and related services in Kenya. This website is available at streamsolar.co.ke.

We are committed to protecting your privacy and handling your personal data responsibly and transparently. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have. We process personal data in accordance with the Data Protection Act, 2019 of Kenya and the regulations made under it.

By using our website or requesting our services, you consent to the practices described in this Privacy Policy.

2. Information We Collect

We collect information that you provide directly to us, information collected automatically when you use our website, and information generated in the course of providing our services.

Enquiry and Quotation Data When you request a quote, book a consultation, or contact us through our website, phone, WhatsApp, or email, we collect details such as your name, email address, phone number, location, and information about your property and energy needs (for example your typical electricity usage, KPLC bill, or the type of system you are interested in).

Site Survey and Installation Data To design and install a solar system, we may collect your physical/site address, details about your building and roof, your electricity consumption, appliance loads, and photographs of the installation site. This information is necessary to size and safely install your system.

Payment Data When you make a payment, we collect the information needed to process it (for example your M-Pesa transaction details or bank payment reference). We do not store full card numbers or banking passwords on our systems; payments are processed through secure third-party payment providers.

Account and Registration Data If you register an account on our website, we store your chosen username, email address, and any additional details you add to your profile. You can view, edit, or delete this information at any time, except for your username.

Comments and Reviews If you leave a comment or review on our website, we collect the information shown in the comment form, together with your IP address and browser user-agent string to help with spam detection.

Automatically Collected Data When you visit our website, we automatically collect certain information such as your IP address, browser type, device information, pages visited, and the date and time of your visit. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies (see Section 5).

4. Legal Basis for Processing

We process your personal data on one or more of the following legal grounds under the Data Protection Act, 2019:

  • Consent — where you have agreed to a specific use, such as receiving marketing communications;
  • Performance of a contract — where processing is necessary to provide the products and services you requested;

5. Cookies

Our website uses cookies — small text files placed on your device to help the site work properly and improve your experience. Cookies are used to remember your preferences, keep you logged in, and provide anonymised usage statistics.

Necessary cookies are required for the site to function, including for security, session management, and (for logged-in users) authentication.

Analytics and performance cookies help us understand how visitors use our site so we can improve it.

You can control or disable cookies through your browser settings. Please note that disabling some cookies may affect how the website works. The best way to manage cookies is through the help or settings section of your browser.

6. Embedded Content and Third-Party Services

Pages on this site may include embedded content (for example YouTube videos, Google Maps, or social media feeds). Embedded content from other websites behaves as though you had visited that other website directly, and those sites may collect data about you, set their own cookies, and monitor your interaction with that content. We have no control over the privacy practices of these third parties, and we encourage you to review their privacy policies.

We use Google Analytics to understand website usage on an anonymised basis. We do not use it to store personally identifying information.

7. Who We Share Your Data With

We do not sell your personal data. We only share your information where it is necessary to provide our services or where we are legally required to do so, including with:

  • Service providers who help us operate our business — for example web hosting, IT, payment processing (such as Safaricom M-Pesa and our bank), and communication tools;
  • Installation and technical partners or subcontractors who assist with surveys, delivery, or installation, and only to the extent needed to carry out the work;
  • Analytics providers, on an anonymised basis, to help us improve our website;
  • Regulatory, legal, or government authorities where we are required to disclose information by law.

Where we share data with third parties, we take reasonable steps to ensure they protect your information appropriately.

8. Data Storage and Security

We use the SSL/HTTPS protocol across our website to encrypt communications between you and our servers, so that personal information is protected in transit. We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss, or misuse.

In the event of a data breach that is likely to affect your rights, we will take immediate steps to secure our systems, notify affected users, and report the breach to the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner as required by law.

9. How Long We Keep Your Data

We retain your personal data only for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including to provide our services, honour warranties, maintain records of installations, and comply with legal, tax, and accounting obligations. When data is no longer needed, we securely delete or anonymise it.

10. Your Rights

Under the Data Protection Act, 2019, you have the right to:

  • Be informed of how your personal data is being used;
  • Access the personal data we hold about you;
  • Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data;
  • Request deletion of your data, subject to our legal obligations to retain certain records;
  • Object to or restrict certain processing;
  • Request that your data be transferred to you or another provider (data portability);
  • Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
  • Lodge a complaint with the Office of the Data Protection Commissioner (ODPC).

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us using the details in Section 14. We may need to verify your identity before acting on your request. Please note we may be unable to delete information that we are legally required to keep or that is essential to an ongoing service relationship.

11. Third-Party Websites

Our website may contain links to third-party websites. We do not screen these sites for privacy or security compliance and are not responsible for their content or practices. Please review the privacy policy of any website you visit through a link from our site.

12. Children’s Privacy

Our services and website are not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children without the consent of a parent or guardian. If you believe we have collected such data, please contact us and we will take appropriate steps to delete it.

13. Changes to This Privacy Policy
